Mari Petroleum Discovers Oil at Shawal-l Well in Sindh

Mari Petroleum Company Limited (PSX: MARI) announced a significant oil discovery resulting from its exploration activities at the Shawal-l well situated in Mari D&PL, located in Sindh. The company shared this exciting development with the main bourse on Monday.

According to the official filing, drilling commenced on January 27, 2024, and the Shawal-l well was successfully drilled to a total depth of 1,136 meters into the Ghazij Formation.

Upon testing, the well demonstrated promising results, producing 1,040 barrels of crude oil with approximately 30 degrees API oil, accompanied by 12 percent Basic Sediment & Water (BS&W). Additionally, the well yielded 2.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of associated gas at wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 953 pounds per square inch (Psi), with a choke size of 32/64 inches.

This marks a significant milestone as it represents the first-ever oil discovery in Mari D&PL, an area that has been primarily focused on gas production since 1967.

Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) serves as the Operator of Mari D&PL, holding a 100% working interest in the project.
