The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has announced the Governing Body Elections for the term 2024-2027, adhering to the PEC Act of 1976 and its amendments up to December 2016. Election Overview

The elections will determine the offices of Chairman, Senior Vice Chairman, four Vice Chairmen (province-based), and forty members of the Governing Body. All Professional Engineers (PEs) and Registered Engineers (REs) with valid registration as of June 30, 2024, are eligible to participate.

Eligibility and Voter Verification

Engineers must check their eligibility for the elections through the PEC’s verification portal at https://verification.pec.org.pk. Any corrections or updates to the voter’s list must be submitted by July 15, 2024. For further assistance, engineers can email [email protected].

Nomination Process

Nominations are invited from “Professional Engineers” with the necessary documentation, including a domicile certificate, CNIC, and an affidavit. Candidates must have twenty-five years of experience in any discipline for the Chairman and Senior Vice Chairman positions. For Vice Chairman and Governing Body members, the requirement is twenty years of experience.

Nominations must be sent to the “Registrar, Pakistan Engineering Council, Ataturk Avenue (East), G-5/2, Islamabad” by July 15, 2024. Nomination papers received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Allocation of Seats

The allocation of seats for the Governing Body is distributed among various engineering disciplines and provinces as follows:

  • Mechanical Engineering: Punjab (1 seat), Sindh (2 seats), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (1 seat), Balochistan (1 seat).

  2. Nomination Submission Deadline: July 5-15, 2024 (by 1700 hrs)
  3. Scrutiny of Nomination Papers: July 16-21, 2024
  4. Intimation of Acceptance/Rejection: July 22-24, 2024
  5. Appeal Against Rejection of Nomination Papers: July 25-26, 2024
  6. Withdrawal of Nomination Papers: July 29, 2024 (by 1700 hrs)
  7. Finalization and Dissemination of Candidates List: July 29, 2024
  8. Physical Balloting: August 18, 2024 (Polling Day, 0800 to 1700 hrs)
  9. Counting of Votes: August 19-22, 2024
  10. Public Notice for Result Declaration: August 23, 2024
  11. Notification of Governing Body Members: August 30, 2024

Voting Process

Physical balloting will be conducted at designated polling stations, which will be shared on the PEC website. Voters must bring their original CNIC and PEC Registration Card on the polling day.
