JAMSHORO (THE JAMSHORO TIMES – 22nd April, 2024) In a recent development, US Consul General in Karachi, Qanrad Tribble, paid a visit to the water research center at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Jamshoro. Tribble emphasized the pressing water issues in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh, underscoring the need for attention and collaborative efforts.
Advancing Water Research: US Consul General Visits Mehran University’s Water Center
During his visit, Tribble highlighted the support extended by the American government and people through scholarships for Pakistani students and teachers. He expressed delight in witnessing the research and teaching endeavors at the water center, emphasizing its vital role in addressing water-related challenges.

Furthermore, Tribble pledged to facilitate study opportunities for students enrolled in the water center through education exchange programs with leading American universities.
Dr. Taha Hussain Ali, the Vice Chancellor of MUET, reflected on the significance of the water research center, established in collaboration with the United States in 2014. He hailed the past decade as a period of exceptional research and teaching, marking significant strides in water-related studies.
Dr. Kamran Ansari, Director of the Water Research Center, shed light on the center’s contributions, including sending 169 students and teachers to the US for educational endeavors. He stressed the need to reignite such initiatives to benefit more educators and students. Additionally, the water center plays a crucial role in supporting irrigation departments in Sindh and Balochistan.

The visit witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Aneel Kumar, Deans of various faculties, and faculty members and students, underscoring the collaborative efforts aimed at advancing water research and addressing pressing water challenges in the region.
